associated postdoctoral research fellow at University of Arts Bremen, Germany
Dr.Ing. Flavia Alice Mameli (Dipl.Des.) has a degree in industrial design from the University of the Arts in Berlin and a doctorate from the School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Landscape Planning at the University of Kassel. Before committing to an academic career, Flavia worked as a product designer with her own enterprise as well as a freelancer in the German startup scene for several years. She helped to establish a few digital ventures in their founding phase and worked as creative manager for others. Apart from that, she has three years of experience as an employee in a landscape architecture office. Grounded in her interdisciplinary background, Flavia’s research interests lie in the intersection of design theory, architecture, and urban studies. The foundation of her research and teaching practice is based on a critical reflection on the role of designers and planners in shaping Anthropocene futures. She is especially interested in transformative design approaches that focus on resilience and sustainability. As an Associate Postdoctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Art & Design of the University of the Arts Bremen, Germany, Flavia is currently researching design practices and discourses related to sustainability in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
